School News

Social ChangeAdult family and community members are invited to be audience members for students presenting about social issues on Thursday, November 10th. Please email Mr. Fisher at [email protected] if you can be an audience member between 8:30 - 10 am Thursday. Thank you for your support!


Conifer High School invites current eighth grade families to learn more about a student trip to Greece in spring 2024 to RSVP for an online informational meeting at 6 pm on Wednesday, November 9. Free registration is required to receive the meeting link or more information.


The next School Accountability Committee meeting is Thursday, November 10th at 2:45 pm in the library with a virtual meeting option. The meeting is open to interested adult attendees.


Our first trimester ends on Friday, November 11. Families, please be sure to check Campus and ask your student to show you their work in Google Classroom. Please refer to the WJMS Student Handbook for more detailed grading information. Schedules for Trimester 2 will be available after school on Thursday, November 10.


Entries in the PTA Reflections arts program will be accepted at the start of the school day on Friday, November 11. More information on the program is under PTA News.

Help support Outdoor Lab by buying a donut before school on Friday, November 18th. Our 6th grade team will be selling donuts for $1 to help fund Outdoor Lab supplies! Please help support Outdoor Lab and bring your dollar!


Classroom projects posted by teachers from our school on DonorsChoose, a not-for-profit crowdfunding platform for schools, are nearing their goals for funding. We thank our school, community, and business donors whose contributions have funded projects to date.


Veterans Day

Veterans Day - Honoring All Who ServedOn November 11, we will observe Veterans Day with an assembly at 7:30 am, followed by a reception for veterans in our cafeteria sponsored by Conifer High School Student Government. Outside, a banner and individual honoree signs from past years will be displayed.

Students have information in their Advise Google Classrooms for submitting information for a Remembrance Wall or service flags. Please see the Veterans Day Initiatives slide deck for more information.


Outdoor Lab Information

Outdoor Lab logoOur sixth grade students will be going to Outdoor Lab the week of December 12th. Additional information can be found in our Outdoor Lab Family Letter. If you have any questions about your student's trip to Outdoor Lab, please contact Ms. Lauer if your student will be attending Mount Evans or Mrs. Buffington if your student will be attending Windy Peak.


PTA News

2022 PTA Reflections theme: Show Your Voice!This year's PTA Reflections arts program theme is Show Your Voice! Students, please fill out the Interest Form (which is not a commitment) to help PTA communicate with you and give us an idea of how many projects may be turned in! Submissions will be accepted at the start of the school day on Friday, November 11 and be on display in the library for the following week. A reception and awards ceremony will be held at 7 am on Thursday, November 17, also in the library. Entries recognized with an Award of Excellence will go on to Jeffco judging and may progress to state and national program judging.

Raise Craze logoIn its first week, our Raise Craze kindness fundraiser has raised $7,245 and students have completed 325 Acts of Kindness

Mr. Cushing's, Mr. Reetz's, and Mr. Matschullat's Advise classes had the most students registered and sent at least one email in the first week. Each of these classes received Popcornopolis cones and apple juice on November 8, and the teachers each received a $25 Amazon gift card. The top three Advise classes for money raised and Acts of Kindness completed this week will have donuts and hot chocolate next week! After reaching over $5000 in donations as a school, administration, counselors, and teachers dressed up in an inflatable colt costume for lunch on Monday. When we reach the $10,000 goal, there will be a schoolwide pajama day and music at lunch. We hope to keep the momentum going, so please continue asking for donations and logging your completed Acts of Kindness in the software. Community News

Jeffco Public Schools is hiring! There are available positions in many areas for adults interested in working for Jeffco Public Schools. Learn more about available positions and apply online on the Jeffco Jobs Board at jeffcok12jobs.org. Many mountain area schools have immediate openings for custodial and kitchen staff.

A Hiring Fair for educational support staff and tutor positions will take place on Wednesday, November 16 from 5 to 8 pm in the 5th floor boardroom at the Jeffco Public Schools Education Center, 1829 Denver West Drive, Bldg 27, Golden.


Pre-season Girls' Basketball Camp: A pre-season girls' basketball camp will be held in the main gym at Conifer High School from 3:30 - 5 pm on Wednesday, November 9 and Thursday, November 10. Coach Connie Ireland and the rest of the Conifer High School coaching staff will assist players in improving their basketball skills. There is no cost for the camp. Mountain Predators in Carnation Bowl: The 8th grade Mountain Predators football team will be playing in the Jeffco Youth Football Association Carnation Bowl! Their game will start at 5 pm on Saturday, November 12th at Trailblazer Stadium, 100 S Kipling, Lakewood. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for K-12 students and seniors, and free for children ages 4 and younger.


Illustration of a winter hat and mittensWinter Clothes Drive: The Conifer church of Christ, 11825 US Hwy 285, is accepting donations of winter coats/sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, and snow boots in new or like-new condition and adult and children's sizes for distribution to community members in need on November 19, 2022. Please see the attached flier for additional information.


Mountain Grapplers Wrestling Club: Registration is open for the 2022-23 Fall/Winter Folkstyle season for wrestlers in K - 8th grade with Mountain Grapplers Wrestling Club. If you would like to be added to their mailing list or have any questions, please contact [email protected].


Middle School Sports Program Basketball: Registration is open for basketball with the Middle School Sports Program offered after school by the district in partnership with local park and recreation districts. The basketball season is from January to March. Teams practice and/or play games against other middle schools twice per week. Families are responsible for transportation to all away games.


Events at Sojourn Book Store: Sojourn Book Store (25797 Conifer Road, Suite C-202) is holding a Highly Sensitive Person talk on Saturday, November 12th from 3 - 5 pm. The presentation will cover what the character trait is, means, and how to embrace it. Please see the flier for details.

Sojourn is accepting registrations for their Backpack Society. A total of twelve spots are available for monthly, quarterly, or academic year membership for students to have a safe space after school to relax, get some homework done, play a game, or just read an adventure. Please see the flier for details.


Conifer community survey: The Conifer Area Council has sponsored a series of surveys since 2006 to inform county government officials about the needs and desires of our community. Their current survey seeks feedback about respondents' community priorities. The survey will be open through the end of December 2022.


Resilience1220: Connect | Grow | ThriveResilience1220 events: Resilience1220 is a local non-profit organization that provides free counseling sessions and support groups for young people ages 12-20, and community outreach and events that increase awareness of mental health issues. Some of their upcoming events:
